Eligibility, General Rules & Information
The show is open to all faithful artists living in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota.
There will be three categories of participants: 1) Adults ages 18+, and 2) Youth ages 12 to 17, and 3) Children ages 11 and younger.
The show welcomes a variety of cultural and aesthetic traditions, styles, and artistic media. 2-D and 3-D media may include painting, pastel, drawing, textile art, photography, floral arrangement, printmaking, sculpture, glass, stained glass, clay, ceramics, wood, leather, stone, metal, archival printed digital art and mixed media. This show excludes crafts, needlework, poetry, artistic performance, and music. If you are unsure about your media or would like us to consider exceptions, please email us directly for pre-approval. Some categories may be limited for the sake of variety.
Each artist may submit up to three pieces of art. The art must be ready to display, including a frame, hanging mechanism, or stand if needed. Art designed to hang on a wall must arrive with a sturdy hanging wire. We won’t be able to hang art with a claw-style hook on the back. This applies to the children’s category as well. Here is a tutorial on how to hang it properly. Wire and D rings can be purchased at a craft store like Hobby Lobby or Amazon. Make sure you get the appropriate size that can take the weight of your piece.
We recommend you insure your art, as the Easter Art Show is not responsible for damage to the work. You will be required to sign a waiver of responsibility. We will do our best to protect the work, but due to our limited budget, we cannot reimburse you for the damage.
Because of limited display space, artwork in the adult category must not exceed 48”, and children’s art must not exceed 24”. Please contact us if you’d like us to consider exceptions.
Art must be submitted by the original artist and cannot have been submitted to the Easter Art Show in previous years.
You must submit your work via Google form by Feb 11th, 2024. Accepted artwork must be brought into the Trail Center by March 9th, unless other arrangements are made in advance.
The artwork needs to arrive at the Winter Quarters Tail Center on March 9th, 2024 ready to display. If you need help getting your work to the Trail Center, we can connect you with other artists living near you. It is your responsibility to pack your piece appropriately to avoid damage. The person you choose to transport your work will assume responsibility for damage in transportation, not the Easter Art Show.
The show is not responsible for framing works of art or for attaching hanging or mounting hardware to them. If it is not ready to hang, it will be returned to you.
Selection Process
Artwork must be submitted online by February 11th, 2024. A panel of local artists will determine which artworks will be selected for display based on quality and variety of work. Because of limited space, placement in the art show is not guaranteed. You will be notified by February 21st if your work will be included in the show, and instructions for delivery will be given then.
Artwork will be judged according to quality of work and how well it reflects the theme of the show.
